This week I was inspired by a random jokin’ around. I was driving with my Dad and saw a truck that said ProMaster plumbing; I said “Hey look it’s ProMaster plumbing” not really thinking. My Dad quipped back “AmateurNovice plumbing.” Which woke me up a little and got me thinking a little, later.
I know I am not a ProMaster painter and closer to an AmateurNovice.
But the good thing about that is that humans can learn! The more time I put in the (slowly) closer I will become to being a professional/master painter. Learning is a superpower.
If humans couldn’t learn we would pay gobs of money to be able to.

This week I thought I had finally graduated and found a style. I had talking points for this style and thought all the way thru about how I would make it. I was pretty excited about starting a new print for the first time in a while. I thought of it and in no less than 12 hours had sketches for a couple of compositions. It occupied me and I kept mulling it over.
Later that night I was driving and noticed a road detour sign just before my turn. I took the detour, even though I didn’t have to, and saw a statue that I had pretty much forgotten about.
The thing is I had a picture of the statue that I was planning on making a print of ~ in that same printmaking medium. I saw this as a sign that I should detour from my new print idea and go back to the drawing board. But I was genuinely pretty pumped up about this new idea.
I put on my thinking cap every night chasing that feeling of excitement for an art idea. What I’m working on is good, but not invigorating! Methinks methinks methinks… day after day… methinks methinks methinks what if that, well I like this… methinks.
Then I came up with these sketches for a series and I’m pretty excited about them!

These are just rough thumbnail sketches. I have to do some more figuring out with pencil to better define the texture and what not. I’m making a list of what I want from it. Modern, detailed, compositional… etc.
But I have to finish up with my other print before I really dive into the cat pictures. I am about halfway finished and want to have it done by the end up the week! But it is getting cold and my cat is sitting on my lap a lot more. (Maybe that’s how I was inspired by this new style.) Until then: More thinking and reading and learning!
