As I sit here writing the song “Today” by The Smashing Pumpkins serendipitously came on. “Today is the greatest day I’ve ever known. Can’t live for tomorrow, tomorrows much too long.” I want to take that quote a bit farther with not just today being the greatest but right now being even greater! I learned about living in the moment today from my cat, which made today the greatest.
Last week I said I need to paint for an hour or so every so often; and I’ve been saying that for years, knowing it to be true and finding help in reminding myself.
Today my cat really wanted to play… I said Mochard we can play later. I thought 1st I have to shower, then eat, then I have homework then I paint then we can play. Meow meow Mochard says. So we played before all that stuff. While playing today i realized: if I were to put off playing til I was completely ready and the perfect time I might not have played w her at all. I found that by squeezing in a little chunk right now we got to play. (instead of sitting, drinking caffeine, and doing whatever else trying to build up the energy for a long session) Sometimes I sit around for hours waiting for the moment to be right and gather up the energy needed.
Maybe I’ll get the energy from painting that I need for painting while painting. If I didn’t play with Mochard right then we still wouldn’t have played today. If I would have painted instead of drinking a Coke maybe I’d still be painting. That doesn’t mean I can just fill in every minute with stuff. I still need time to wake up, recharge, etc. But do I need all the time I spend doing that too? I’ll have to see the coming week.

I did get some painting done this week. Only about 4 hours. Which is ok and came out to be about 3 sessions. Im making progress and still piling on the ideas. I had the idea of writing down all the paintings I wanted to do and now I have quite the que. (some I had almost completely forgotten until I added more to the list) I’d like to mark off a session a day and start getting more done! We shall see how that goes. I painted a cloud these past three times and it was fine after the the first 2 times then I thought it could be better, it was okayy. So I made it worse! (On accident) but now I have room to make it amazeballs by painting over it completely in white and looking at a better reference picture! Until next week.
Bye
