My muse turned her head from me.

This past Saturday, the 4th of July, was especially celebratory; being America’s 250th birthday called for lots of explosions. Explosions, fireworks same thing… especially if you are an animal. The fireworks really scared my cat~my muse. My kitty Mochard came out, when I got home, with her ears perched back and tail between her legs with a countenance of skiddish fear.

Next year I am going to have to drug her or just not go to the lake. She was just plain scared as I went to bed that night with her mad at me. Well that was the last time I saw her! D: She never came out Sunday. She went where she was free. She always helped me relax in between projects and was a source of inspiration for projects. She posed for photos and sketches and came to help me with my art even, adding a paw print… making the art a her’s too.

I catch her staring at pictures on the wall sometimes and she doesn’t turn her head away instantly when I show her art on my phone. She particularly enjoyed watching Picasso paint…watching the video 3 times in a row. Mochard has taste! She is a great muse and fuels the fire; that is why when she went missing i was devastated!

Fear not, do not fret… she has taught me through her chill composure. But I still feared! I was in discomposure and after 48 frantic hours I started venting about missing her and that I should have done this or that. Just then she popped out like nothing happened. I rejoiced!

My muse has not abandoned me after all!! When she was gone I had started to think of art to commemorate her and the design for a “lost cat” poster. Reward: not as valuable as my sweet kitten. I even began to become depressed; I thought I will have more time without her on my lap, then I thought the extra time to work would be spoiled without her to hang out with after some good work done.

I got some good work worked on this week. Not enough with another busy week at home, but some. I did my initial sketch for my painting. I do my sketches in soft vine charcoal because it is easy to erase. Though that also makes it a problem because my hand would smudge it when resting them during painting. I’ve solved this by squeegeeing on a layer of clear gesso over the initial first layer sketch and that locks it in. I got that initial sketch done this week and lots of side projects. Hopefully more on the main quest this week.

Bye
