Like rock, punk will never die!

“Punk has always been about doing things your own way. What it represents for me is the ultimate freedom and sense of individuality.” -Billie Joel Armstrong

The lead singer of Green Day is certainly making a point here. I’m going to make what I want, how I want. Punk expression! Im not necessarily going to make punk art and start spray painting things. According to Billie Joel Armstrong’s quote, I’d say Monet or Picasso were punk. Monet lead a counterculture, in the art world, movement of Impressionism as did Picasso with Cubism.

I’m not saying I’m going to invent an art movement. I’d invent an art movement if I could. The reason I’m going to paint silly pictures and experiment is to find a voice and try and say what I want to say. I need a way to express the rollercoasters, for myself just as much as for anyone else. I want to document a good day or show how it feels when I’m down.

That takes energy and putting onesselve into a spot to do create. It’s a lot easier to just prepare, for me at least. It can be a joy to plan and it’s nice to be prepared for when an idea strikes, and they have.

One of my favorite pieces I have done is done was on a weekend night I was just messing around. I had had a bottle of black 2.0, and silver and black metallic paint that I can hear myself getting scolded for acquiring. The thing is I only started because I had the black 2.0 which I poured on a canvas and made a design background which the rest of the painting came to life from. If I hadn’t had the abundance of art materials I wouldn’t have done it. It gave me the confidence to know I can make a professional piece and I have a professional piece of art now too!

Yes I do have a problem… it’s a dopamine hit finding a nice art supply. At least I can make something of it. (no pun intended) Now the question is what.

Im working on one painting right now and haven’t got really much done this week. I got a lot of work done in redoing my room and it’s been hot in the factory. I need to set aside just an hour or so to chip away at a project. I try and get a project done all done at once but rarely find that much time all set aside.

I have been having ideas to do a big watercolor and been thinking about how I want to do it and what it will look like… i can only make it so good in idea form then I work from there, like thinking of what something will taste like. Of course i can do sketches and stuff do make an idea less foggy. Maybe I’ll do that. I did do some sketches this week and in between my painting back log this new watercolor I have plenty to work on, and that’s excluding my “masterpiece” print! I need a good shower and then a little more sleep and hopefully I can move forward this week. If I don’t have the energy I’ll put on some pop punk rock!

Bye
