I’m a multi-media artist working with soft pastels, printmaking, and acrylic and watercolor painting. I am diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder bipolar type. One day in 2016 I was unmedicated and having a severe manic episode and decided I was going to commit suicide. I decided to have one last meal and upon walking out of the restaurant I noticed a red geranium. I looked at it for a long while; I began to cry because it looked so beautiful. I believe this was a sign from God that saved me showing that the world can have great beauty. I started drawing again shortly after and remembered I really enjoy it! I’ve been slowly adding mediums to my repertoire when I feel inspired by another piece of art. I do not feel constrained to one medium. I feel I can’t chose just one actually. I enjoy the differences of art supplies. I also enjoy learning and getting better at different types of art. My themes range from a genre of a playful magical-realism to things and places I love. I am still working on a cohesive style and am enrolled in the Fine Arts program at Johnson County Community College eventually transferring to a university for a BFA.
